Tonda PF, introduced in September 2021, is Parmigiani's integrated-bracelet dress line, and its original Micro-Rotor model runs on the in-house PF703 caliber with a rated 48-hour reserve.
Tonda PF is the Parmigiani watch many people meet first, a round dress piece with an integrated bracelet and a sapphire display back that shows the movement. It is newer than its name suggests. The Tonda PF Micro-Rotor debuted in September 2021, and it sits beside the older Tonda 1950 family, which people often confuse with it. An owner needs to know which collection and caliber they have before deciding where the watch should go for service.
Parmigiani's Tonda story begins with the Tonda 1950, which the brand dates to 2010. The name commemorates Michel Parmigiani's birth year. That collection brought in the manufacture's micro-rotor automatic architecture, and the steel generation used the PF702 caliber with a tungsten micro-rotor. Tonda PF followed in 2021 as a separate collection with its own integrated-bracelet design, and its first micro-rotor model carries the PF703.
Parmigiani Fleurier was founded in 1996 by Michel Parmigiani, and the brand's first wristwatch was the Toric QP Rétrograde that same year. The house style that came out of those early pieces, with its rounded, carefully proportioned cases, is the thread that runs through the Tonda. Knowing where the Tonda sits in that story helps when you are trying to date a watch or judge its finishing.
The naming is the main trap for buyers. A listing that calls a watch a 2005 Tonda PF, or pairs the Tonda PF name with a PF702 caliber, is describing a combination that does not match the collection's history. The date, the caliber and the case style should agree with each other before any other question is asked.
The PF703 is an automatic with hours, minutes and a date. It beats at 3 Hz, which is 21,600 vibrations per hour, and has 29 jewels. Parmigiani rates the reserve at 48 hours when fully wound. The movement is about 3.07 mm thick, and the case measures 40 mm across and about 7.8 mm thick. A movement that thin leaves a watchmaker very little room for error, so the bench work should be done slowly and with the right tools.
The platinum micro-rotor is part of the movement's construction rather than a bolt-on, so the rotor and the going train have to be handled as one job. Parmigiani's warranty runs three years, and it can be extended by two years through My PF Account if the watch is registered within three years of purchase. The brand's published guidance recommends a full service every four to six years, and its service warranty covers two years on the work and any replaced components.
The usual route is through an authorized retailer, who arranges transfer to an approved service center. The Fleurier contact is there for intake and shipping questions. Parmigiani does not publish a policy on independent access to parts for the PF703, so that question has to be asked directly. An independent who wants to take a Tonda PF on should confirm in writing that they can source the parts and will return the original components.
Ask the retailer for an estimate of both the transit time and the workshop time before the watch leaves the shop. A written timeline is a reasonable request for a watch of this value, and it gives you a clear point to ask questions if the watch is delayed.
Check the reference against the caliber before anything else. The Micro-Rotor model should carry the PF703, and a listing that gives a different caliber or an earlier date needs an explanation. The original model was offered in steel with a platinum bezel and in 18-carat rose gold, and both used the platinum micro-rotor PF703. A watch whose caseback or documents point to another caliber is a reason to slow down.
The case is where the next checks go. The bracelet is integrated, so its links, clasp and fit are part of the case itself. Look for links that have been replaced, a clasp that does not match the finish, or a bezel that has been polished until its edges have gone soft. The sapphire crystal and the display back should be clear and free of hairline cracks.
Paperwork and a seller who will allow an inspection come next. Ask for the original box and papers, a clear photograph of the caseback and movement, and a written account of any service. A watch that has been serviced recently and documented is easier to value and easier to live with, and a seller who avoids the question has told you something useful.
A 7.8 mm case with a tight integrated bracelet is easy to wear, and the wear shows on the desk edges, the bracelet links and the bezel. Polishing can improve a tired case, but each pass removes metal from the edges that define the watch's shape. Ask for the minimum work the case needs, and keep a note of anything that was done.
Keep the original links and clasp, and keep any spare parts in the box. A bracelet that has been fitted to a different case, or links that have been removed to suit a different wrist, changes both the fit and the value. If the bracelet has been shortened, ask the workshop to record which links were taken out.
The Micro-Rotor model is rated at 100 metres of water resistance, which suits swimming and everyday use but is not a diving watch. Have the gaskets replaced at each full service and the watch pressure tested afterward, especially if it has spent time in salt water or in hot, humid places.

Possibly, but Parmigiani does not publish a policy on independent access to parts. Confirm the parts and the method in writing before you choose the workshop.
